What inspired you to start your business?

I love creating window treatments that beautify a room and also enhance comfort. Windowful utilizes my creative talents and my love for technical innovation.

What's special about your business?

I am a certified window covering professional and work with a large pool of suppliers, both national manufacturers and local workrooms, to offer the best value solution to my clients. Windowful Interiors offers both residential and commercial clients custom-designed beautiful window coverings that are state of the art.

What influenced you to seek help from SCORE?

As a longstanding entrepreneur, I have valued the training afforded by SCORE and routinely attend workshops. I also have immense respect for the SCORE Executive Mentors.

How SCORE helped.

During Windowful Interior's initial startup, I attended many SCORE workshops to help develop my marketing strategy and set up my online accounts. I attended a presentation by an IP attorney and hired them to trademark my company name. My Mentor, Rakesh Chandra, guided me through the early challenges of establishing Windowful Interiors and counseled me through the Covid ‘Valley of Death.'  As my company thrives and expands, he motivates me to continue pushing the boundaries to find new opportunities.

What's great about my mentor?

Rakesh has been a beacon for me since I founded Windowful Interiors. Initially, he called my attention to SCORE resources and workshops to help me establish my company. When Covid hit, he offered not only support but also survival resources that enabled Windowful Interiors to survive that very difficult period. The company has experienced rapid growth in the past 18 months. Rakesh has helped me focus on operational and sales tasks to continue expanding my business. I am so grateful for his constant and expert guidance.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of starting a small business?

Do not hesitate! Utilize the many types of support that SCORE offers for so many aspects of your business. 

What would you tell a fellow business owner about SCORE?

We are so lucky in Fairfield County to have such a tremendous resource for entrepreneurs. I recommend any businessperson become familiar with the many levels of training and support available through SCORE and actively engage with the organization.
