My successes.

"I am honored and grateful to have spent the past 17 years in service to individuals and families who have courageously grappled with the challenges of ADHD and executive function issues. While I've assumed different roles—from special education teacher to mindfulness instructor and executive function coach—each experience has been bound by the unifying purpose of enriching lives and guiding people toward their fullest potential. The resilience and triumphs I've witnessed not only uplift my clients but also enrich my own life. It fuels my passion for this transformative work.

Since launching my executive function coaching business full-time last year, I have completely invested in making a lasting impact on even more lives in the coming years. Each success story adds a meaningful chapter to my own life's book."

What do you do?

"My business specializes in ADHD/executive function coaching with mindfulness practices that empower individuals to develop the tools and skills needed to navigate life’s complexities with greater ease and focus. Using an innovative, brain-based approach, I guide clients in creating systems for time management and other essential executive function skills. Clients gain a deeper understanding of how their brains function, and we design visual systems tailored to their unique needs. This reflective, hands-on process supports them in planning, organizing, and building sustainable habits that lead to long-term success.

The program is designed for individuals as young as fifth grade through adulthood. When we work with children and adolescents, at least one parent participates in the sessions. Big changes require strong family support."

What inspired you to start your business?

In addition to my full-time job as a learning specialist, I also worked as an executive function/ADHD coach with students and their parents in the evenings and on weekends.  After the pandemic, my business grew quite a bit. I decided to launch it full-time in August 2023.

What's special about your business?

"I take a holistic, brain-based approach to family dynamics. By recognizing that every brain functions differently, I help families develop a deeper understanding of each other's strengths and challenges. This promotes empathy and allows for more compassionate, tailored communication strategies.

Unlike traditional approaches that may focus solely on behavioral techniques, this method addresses the underlying neurological differences that shape how people think, feel, and interact. By incorporating neuroscience into family work, a more personalized and effective pathway develops, improving relationships and fostering emotional connection. This approach not only strengthens communication but also cultivates a culture of understanding and acceptance, which can lead to long-lasting positive change for families."

What influenced you to seek help from SCORE?

Starting my own business was in many ways a natural step, as I felt confident in my skills and expertise in helping individuals navigate challenges with executive function/ADHD. However, I realized I needed support on the business side. This included areas like marketing, branding, and financial management—critical to building and sustaining a business. I needed the confidence to move forward in this transition from the security of my full-time job as a learning specialist to running my own practice, which led me to seek guidance in those areas to make my business a success.

How SCORE helped.

SCORE made a significant difference in my business by providing both invaluable support and positive energy. My mentor, Gregg Butler, offered insightful suggestions and encouragement, which gave me the confidence to move forward. Additionally, I discovered a free workshop with Brian Moran through SCORE, which was a game-changer. As a result, I hired Brian and Jocelyn Ring, who have been tremendous business coaches, guiding and supporting me every step of the way on my entrepreneurial journey.

With SCORE's guidance, I successfully launched my business full-time a year ago, and since then, I've experienced tremendous growth in sales and gained invaluable knowledge about running my own business—and about myself. I now have a solid business plan that provides me with clear direction every day. What’s more, I have a reliable network of people I can turn to for advice whenever I feel stuck.

What's great about my mentor?

Gregg continues to be a wonderful mentor with suggestions for growing my business and constant positive supportive check-ins.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of starting a small business?

My advice to small business owners starting out is to take full advantage of the free resources provided by SCORE. Learn as much as you can, and find a mentor to connect with for personalized guidance. Take small, manageable steps each day to avoid feeling overwhelmed—it’s all about progress, not perfection. Remember, there’s an incredible amount of support available, so don’t hesitate to seek it out!

What would you tell a fellow business owner about SCORE?

I highly recommend SCORE to anyone in need of business support. The organization offers a wealth of free resources and has a network of genuine, knowledgeable people who are truly invested in helping you succeed. Whether you're just starting out or looking to grow your business, you'll find valuable guidance, mentoring, and encouragement to navigate your journey with confidence.
